The high-flying Reds have crashed to defeat in their Australian Super 14 derby against the Brumbies in Canberra on Saturday.

The Brumbies won 32-12 after leading 14-6 at half-time.

The Brumbies scored four tries through lock Mark Chisholm, prop Ben Alexander (2) and scrumhalf Josh Valentine. Flyhalf Matt Giteau added three conversions and two penalties.

Reds flyhalf Quade Cooper kicked four penalties for visitors.

The Brumbies picked up a full-house of five points for their bonus point win and moved into sixth position in the standings on 32 points – only two points adrift of the top four.

The Reds empty Canberra empty-handed and slipped to fourth position on the log.
