After a lengthy absence where he missed the first part of this year’s Vodacom SupeRugby, Toyota Cheetahs flanker Heinrich Brussow made a stellar return against the Cell C Sharks in Durban over the weekend.

Statistics taken from the Vodacom Rugby Stats App demonstrates the contribution he made for his side. Brussow, who has a keen appetite for the breakdowns, proved on Saturday that he has not lost that insatiable hunger for turnover ball.

He shares the top spot in the Turnovers Won category with another breakdown specialist in DHL Stormers flanker-cum-hooker Deon Fourie. They stole four balls apiece in their respective matches and are followed be three more South Africans in the top five. Lions players, flanker Derick Minnie and scrumhalf Faf de Klerk won three turnovers along with Stormers fullback Jaco Taute.

Brussow’s name also appears at near the top of the Tackles category where he made the second most tackles over the weekend. He made one tackle less than Vodacom Bulls flanker Jacques du Plessis, who made 19 in his side’s match against the Waratahs in Sydney.

Cheetahs fullback Willie le Roux also continues to make up the running metres and has almost run a full 800m this season.

Bulls fullback Ulrich Beyers leads the Metres Run category with 161m, while Le Roux is shortly behind him on 151m. Le Roux is also among the top players in terms of carries for the weekend, with the Rebels’ Luke Jones leading with 17 carries. The Cheetahs player shares 16 carries with Charles Piutau (Blues) and Scott Higginbotham (Rebels).
