The Vodacom Bulls booked their spot in the 2012 Super Rugby play-offs when they beat the MTN Lions 37-20 at Loftus Versfeld in Pretoria.

The Bulls secured 5th spot on the final SuperRugby log with a bonus point victory and will now travel to Christchurch to face the Crusaders in one of the play off matches to determine the semi-finalists.

The first half ended in a 20 all draw with both teams scoring two converted tries and two penalties. Akona Ndungane and Bjorn Basson went over for the Bulls while Michael Bondesio and captain Joshua Strauss crossed the white wash for the Lions.

It took only ten minutes in the second half for the Bulls to clinch the match after Francois Hougaard and Jacques Potgieter ran in quick tries. Morne Steyn then slotted a penalty to put the game out of reach for the Lions.

The Lions fought back in the end but could not breach the physical Bulls defense.
