takealot.com Cape Town 10s walks away with the coveted Best Live Experience award at the Discovery Sport Industry Awards
(Cape Town, 15 February 2016) The takealot.com Cape Town 10s, South Africa’s biggest sport and lifestyle event walked away with the coveted ‘Best Live Experience Award’ at the 2015 Discovery Sport Industry Awards hosted at the Sandton Convention Centre on 11 February 2016. The 2015 edition of the takealot.com Cape Town 10s attracted record numbers and was hosted at Hamilton’s Rugby Club in Green Point on 6 & 7 February 2015.
The festival has in recent years cemented itself as one of the most unique festivals in SA, offering the very best sports and entertainment all packed into one epic weekend. Last year’s event broke a number of records including a record breaking 25 000 visitors and over 400 rugby and netball matches played over one weekend.
Other memorable moments from last year included a cameo performance by Stormers Captain and 2014 South African Rugby Player of the Year, Duane Vermeulen, who joined Kurt Darren for a special rendition of Kaptein, a rugby debut by former Protea Captain Graeme Smith and an exhilarating HAKA performance by the Sharp International Team led by Carlos Spencer and Christian Cullen.

The Discovery Sport Industry Awards was hosted on Thursday, 11 February 2016 and celebrated the best in the South African sports industry. A total of 16 awards were presented to a room packed with over 1,200 high profile guests from the South African sport industry at the Sandton Convention Centre.
