Rugby fans from New Zealand and around the world are set to receive their tickets for DHL New Zealand Lions Series 2017 matches with printing getting underway today.

The tickets for all ten matches bear the unique design of the Taiaha, a traditional Maori weapon, which features prominently on the Maori-inspired logo for the DHL New Zealand Lions Series, and will serve as the trophy for all matches excluding the Test matches.

“With one month to go until the opening match of the DHL NZ Lions Series, fans excitement is building and they will be keen to get their hands on their tickets, which many would have purchased last year,” said Nigel Cass, NZR GM for the DHL New Zealand Lions Series.

New Zealand fans who opted to have their tickets delivered by mail or courier will begin receiving their allocation over the next few days. British & Irish Lions and All Blacks supporters who purchased through official travel tours will receive their tickets or be able to collect them over the coming weeks.

“Working with our ticketing partners for this Series, we are printing almost 355,000 tickets. This is one of the biggest ticket sales campaigns ever undertaken in New Zealand so it’s great to get to this important milestone and to be sending out tickets to fans.

“We’re delighted that we are at the point where 93 percent of all tickets for the Series have already been sold so fans need to get in quick as we’re confident we’re on track to meet our ambitious target of ten sold-out matches,” said Nigel Cass.

There are some tickets remaining across a number of categories when the Blues host the visitors on 7 June, while availability is limited for matches involving the Provincial Barbarians, the Highlanders, Chiefs and Hurricanes. The ticket allocation for the Test matches and matches involving the Maori All Blacks and Crusaders are exhausted.

Chief Commercial Officer of the British & Irish Lions, Charlie McEwen, on a short visit to New Zealand this week, said the final stages of planning for the visit were in place following the announcement of the squad last month.

“The British & Irish Lions have been preparing for this Tour for four years and we’re pleased to see everything is on schedule in New Zealand to deliver an incredible six weeks for the squad and our travelling fans. Our supporters are looking forward to fiercely competitive rugby on the field but also a fantastic experience off it.

“Our fans who travelled in 2005 recall great relationships with New Zealanders and I’m sure that there will be many more friendships created this time round.”
