The Counties side had travelled 600 miles from Vancouver to Calgary for the match but showed no sign of fatigue, scoring 50 points in the second half against the Canadian Rugby Championship winners.

With temperatures reaching 31 degrees, England got off to the perfect start when back row Harry Bate picked up a loose ball, sprinting through to put the visitors ahead with the try converted by centre Leo Fielding.

Shortly after the try the hosts were reduced to 14 men after their flanker was sent to the sin bin and England Counties swiftly capitalised on the advantage.

Fly half Joe Tarrant’s perfectly measured cross-field kick was collected by Dan Williams to score, extending England’s lead.

The hosts soon narrowed the gap with an unconverted try from prop Nick McAuley, leaving the score 17-5 at half time to England.

The hosts started the second half the stronger of the two sides with another unconverted try from scrum half Jake Robinson to make it 17-10 but England soon gained control of the match.

Four tries in quick succession from Dan Seal, Sam Baker, Fielding and Bate took the match away from Prairie Wolf Pack with the visitors now leading 41-10.

Replacements Rob Conquest, Ryan Parkinson and Chris May soon joined the fray giving England some fresh legs in the challenging winds and high temperatures.

Bate was able to  crash over the line for his hat-trick before further tries from winger James Stokes and two from Leo Fielding gave England a 67-10 lead at the final whistle.

FORWARD DOMINANCE

Despite making 10 changes from the side that beat BC Bears in Vancouver, England Counties were once again able to dominate their opposition in the forwards.

The visitors had control at the set pieces from the outset which gave space for the backs to score out wide.

Flanker Bate exemplified a tireless and committed team display with a fine individual performance, scoring three tries as well as causing Prairie Wolf Pack problems in the loose.

England Counties will now travel to Toronto to play Ontario Blues in Toronto on Saturday, 11 June (8.30 BST) who they beat 32-26 when the teams last met in 2010, for their final match of this Canada tour.
