Scarlets are delighted to confirm that loosehead prop Dylan Evans has committed his future to the region.

Australian born Evans joined the Scarlets ahead of the 2015-16 making his competitive debut against Munster in October 2015.

Welsh-qualified Evans, 28, represented the Combined NSW-Queensland Country side that took on the British & Irish Lions in 2013 and faced his now fellow Scarlet centre Jonathan Davies.

Evans has proved to be an effective scrummager and a powerful ball carrier in the loose, fitting in well with the Scarlets style of play.

2016-17 was a frustrating season for Evans as injuries saw him make only eight appearances throughout the season.

With Rob Evans and Wyn Jones currently on international duty Evans has had an opportunity to stake a claim for the number 1 jersey and put in a solid 80 minute shift in the 30-34 victory over Southern Kings at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in the Guinness PRO14 on Sunday.

Commenting on the news Dylan Evans said; “I’m delighted to have signed a new contract with the region. I’ve really enjoyed my last three seasons and see Llanelli as my home now.

“It’s great to be back on the field and I’m enjoying every minute of it. To be playing with such a successful squad is very enjoyable.”

Head Coach Wayne Pivac added; “Dylan has come into his own during the international window and has become a very important member of the squad in the last three years.

“He has shown in recent matches, with both Wyn and Rob on international duty, how important he is to the squad. It’s exciting for us as coaches to see that his all round game is also continuing to develop.”
