Colin Gregor will captain the Scotland Sevens side for rounds four and five of the HSBC Sevens World Series in USA and New Zealand.
Head coach Stephen Gemmell has made five changes to the side that competed in the third round of the Series in Port Elizabeth where Scotland won the Shield.
Gemmell’s side currently sit in 12th position in the overall standings, 14 poins ahead of 15th placed Spain. This season the 15th side after the ninth and final round, the London Sevens in May, will be relegated from the Series – something Scotland will be looking to avoid.
For the USA Sevens in Las Vegas, and the New Zealand Sevens in Wellington, the most noticeable absentee is Scotland Sevens’ all-time leading try scorer Andrew Turnbull.
Struan Drewar, Finlay Gillies, Scott Wight, James Johnstone and Russell Weir come in to replace Turnbull, Mark Robertson, Joe Nayacavou, Mark Bennett and Jack Ferguson.
Scotland have been drawn in possibly the toughest of the pools and face Dubai champions Fiji, and Gold Coast Sevens champions New Zealand on day one, before the Gold Coast runners-up Australia on day two.
