The 2017 HSBC Sydney 7s is tracking for a sell-out crowd on Saturday and Sunday (4-5 February 2017) as the countdown to Christmas gets closer, with ticket sales well ahead of December 2015 Sydney 7s sales figures.

For the first time, Australia’s leg of the HSBC Sevens World Series will be a three day event and include an HSBC Women’s Sevens World Series tournament, where Australia’s Olympic golden girls will play their first ever World Rugby tournament on home soil in front of a roaring crowd from Friday 3 February 2017.

The inaugural HSBC Sydney 7s earlier this year sold out with nine days to spare as more than 73,000 fans of all ages and backgrounds passed through the gates over the fun-filled weekend. 50% of 2016 ticket-buyers had never purchased a rugby ticket before, while 85% of corporate hospitality bookings came from new clients.

With the “Go Colourful” fancy dress theme, live music, performances, food and drink stalls and plenty of family-friendly activities planned throughout the stadium precinct, the 2017 Sydney 7s promises to be an amazing event for all ages, whether they’re new or old fans of rugby.

ARU COO Rob Clarke said: “The HSBC Sydney 7s was a standout tournament on the HSBC Sevens World Series this year and in February 2017 we are looking forward to cementing the leg as one of the premier Sevens events globally.

“The fantastic carnival atmosphere of the Sydney 7s and the theme “Go Colourful” will make for a wonderful three days of Sevens where we’ll see the best women’s and men’s teams in the world – including over very own gold-medal winning Aussie women’s team – compete for the trophies.

“We are looking forward to welcoming teams and fans from across the world as Sydney goes on show in February, and fans are urged to book tickets now to ensure they don’t miss out on the fun.

“I especially encourage fans to book tickets for Friday 3 February, where you will be able to witness first-hand the incredible skill, speed, strength and endurance of our Olympic gold medallists who will be playing alongside the best women’s teams on the planet.”
