Southern Kings flanker Jacques Engelbrecht has been cleared for selection for the game against the Cheetahs at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Saturday, while Andries Strauss’ shoulder injury has shown remarkable improvement.

Director of Rugby Alan Solomons said Engelbrecht, who came off the field in the 49th minute against the Waratahs on the 4th of May following an ankle sprain, was fit for selection for the afternoon match (Kickoff at 3pm) against the Cheetahs on Saturday.

“Jacques took full part in training today and has been cleared for selection by the medical team,” he said.

Solomons said Strauss, who came off the field in the 23rd minute following a shoulder injury, in the Southern Kings last game against the Highlanders on the 11th of May, was also making significant headway.

“Andries also took part in training today, although it was just a light training session, and we are hopeful that he will be ready for the game, although we will only make a final decision about his inclusion tomorrow [SUBS: Tues 21 May 2013] after a more intensive training session,” he said.
