Jason Emery Red Card Offence

Jason Emery of the Highlanders has received a red card for foul play during a Super Rugby match at the weekend.

Emery is alleged to have contravened Law 10.4 (e) Dangerous Tackling when he tackled the Sharks #15 in the air during the match between the Highlanders and Sharks at Forsyth Barr Stadium, Dunedin on Friday 22 April, 2016.

The Sharks #15, Willie Le Roux, jumped in the air to catch a kick. At this point in time Jason Emery made contact with the Sharks player’s legs and caused him to land in a dangerous fashion. After consultation with the TMO, the Referee awarded a red card.

The Case is to be considered in the first instance by SANZAAR Duty Judicial Officer Chris Morris.

All SANZAAR disciplinary matters are in the first instance referred to a Duty Judicial Officer hearing to provide the option of expediting the judicial process.

For a matter to be dispensed with at this hearing, the person appearing must plead guilty and accept the penalty offered by the DJO.
