What is the strength of the Springbok team?
We are proud to represent our country and are united in our dream and cause.

How do you stay focused on the now when the World Cup is so close?
Every week is as important as the next in the lead up to the World Cup. Every week is a new chance to better yourself.

What are your proudest achievements?
Becoming a father, winning the URC with Munster and representing the Springboks.

Which parts of your game have improved the most over the past year?
My ball handling and decision making on pitch is now the best it has ever been.

What boots do you play in and why do they work for you?
I play in the 8-stud PUMA Avant Pro; they offer me the support and grip I need to perform at my peak.

What attracted you to partner with the PUMA?
I had heard from other PUMA athletes about the boots and after testing them out I knew I could not pick a better brand to play in.

What keeps you motivated during tough times?
I have a strong intrinsic drive, as well as making my family proud and representing my club and country with honour.

What content do you share with your social media followers?
I mostly share stuff about rugby, my dogs and my family and friends.

What lesson has fatherhood taught you?
That the “important things” in life seem a whole lot less important once you become a father.

How do you manage two Beagles, one is usually more than a handful?
I don’t, they drive me and my wife insane. We love them but they do keep us very busy.

You played abroad for Munster. Why should South African players consider this option?
Playing abroad has widened my cultural knowledge and has offered me the opportunity to visit much of Europe over the last number of years. Travel broadens the mind someone once said, and I believe that to be very true.
