South African rugby fans will be given a magic carpet ride to the Rugby World Cup with some of the biggest names in sports and entertainment, following the announcement of the SA Rugby Travel World Cup match-day line-up today.

The campaign will be captained by World Cup-winning skipper, John Smit, while on the ground in the UK to give the Bok faithful a unique experience will be another former Bok skipper and Survivor SA star, Corné Krige, SA TV star Katlego Maboe and SA music legend Kurt Darren to name a few.

“We want to get as many South Africans across to England as we can in September to give the team that real Home Ground Advantage,” said record-breaking Bok skipper, Smit.

“We at SA Rugby Travel know exactly what makes Springbok fans tick and having been in the change room I know how much our fans’ support means to the boys. With that combination we’re on to a winner.

“We’ve lined up some great packages and with my mates Corné, Katlego and Kurt in the mix, we’ll take fans on an unbelievable experience in the footsteps of the Boks.”

Smit has been appointed as SA Rugby Travel Ambassador to the World Cup and will be championing the cause of the Springbok fan by attending public events leading up to the Tournament to let the fans know exactly what is in store for them. SA Rugby Travel – a joint venture between SARU and integrated tourism company Tourvest, is the only officially licenced Travel operator, together with its sub-agents permitted to offer Rugby World Cup packages in South Africa.

MD of SA Rugby Travel, Bryan Coetzee said “We are extremely proud to have the likes of former Springbok Captains John Smit and Corne Krige on our team. At SA Rugby Travel, we’ve recognized how important it is to enhance the fan experience and with the inclusion of Celebrity Tour led experiences and interaction with the Boks, we are bringing the fan a lot closer to the team.”

“We have seen a significant uptake of South Africans who have already secured their 2015 Rugby World Cup Packages this year and with thousands more expected to do so in the next few months, Rugby World Cup 2015 in London will certainly live up to its credo of being “Too big to miss” said Coetzee.

SA Rugby Travel offers a variety of affordable World Cup Packages starting from as little as R13 500 excluding airport taxes and will offer supporters the opportunity to travel with the Springboks as they trail blaze from Brighton in the south to Newcastle in the north.

A handful of supporters booking quarterfinal packages with SA Rugby Travel will also have an opportunity to meet up with John for a very English “cup of tea” in the UK.

“No one who has been to a World Cup – and I’ve been to three of them as a player, will ever forget the experience, the sounds, the sights, the late nights and the camaraderie that being at a Rugby World Cup brings with it,” said Smit.

“You’re not just going to watch rugby matches, you’re going to collect memories that will live with you for decades to come. Everyone knows where they were when the Boks won the Rugby World Cup in 1995 and 2007, but how many of those people can say “I was there”?
