The Golden Lions Rugby Union announced the renewal and extension of some player contracts for 2013 this afternoon, as well as the signing of Loose Forward Warwick Tecklenberg for two years until 2014.

Tecklenberg hails from the Blue Bulls Rugby Union and Forward Coach Johan Ackermann said he is excited about the signing of Tecklenberg.

The players who are extending and signing their first contracts are:

MTN Lions coach Johan Ackermann said, “the signing of these players shows their commitment to the Golden Lions Rugby Union, despite what many have called “uncertain times” at the Union following the relegation from Super Rugby. However, the renewals of these player contracts shows that there are in fact some very exciting times ahead of the franchise, and an announcement should be made within the next two weeks on the way forward for 2013”.
