The Nelson Mandela Challenge Plate – which is contested on an annual basis between South Africa and Australia – went on public display at the Springbok Experience at the V&A Waterfront in Cape Town on Sunday.

The Springboks reclaimed the Plate with a 28-8 win over the Wallabies at DHL Newlands in Cape Town on Saturday to take the series 2-0, following their 38-12 win in Brisbane at the beginning of the month.

The Plate has been contested by the two teams since 2000 and resides with the team last to win it outright. If a series is drawn the Plate is retained by the holders.

The Springbok Experience is SARU’s world-class, modern interactive museum explaining South Africa’s rugby heritage. It features more than 64 audio visual monitors and computer screens, interactive ‘Springbok Trials’ skills tests for children and adults as well as a flagship Springbok retail store.

The Springbok Experience is open from 10am to 6pm, every day except Christmas Day.
