New Zealand Rugby (NZR) today confirmed the appointment of Nicki Nicol to the role of Chief Financial Officer (CFO).

The CFO, NZR’s primary financial advisor, is a critical leadership position for the organisation and provides financial insight to the executive team and the wider rugby community. The position includes heading up the organisation’s corporate services areas of Information Technology, Legal, People and Capability and Finance.

Nicki has returned to Wellington after a long tenure in senior executive roles at BP, working in New Zealand, Australia and the United Kingdom.

With a strong financial background, a qualified Chartered Accountant, Nicki also has extensive experience creating commercial value across strategic, sales and marketing portfolios.

NZR Chief Executive Steve Tew said Nicki would provide exceptional financial and corporate services leadership experience to the management team.

“We are delighted to have someone of Nicki ’s calibre on board at a critical time for rugby and the organisation as we embark on delivering our ambitious organisational strategy Towards 2020.

“As well as providing financial management experience, Nicki also brings a strong understanding of sales and marketing which will be a great asset to our leadership team.

“With the resignation, late last year, of CFO Jannine Mountford, it was critical to secure an experienced and highly capable leader, and we’re confident we have achieved that.”
