With their opponents now confirmed as Australian derby rivals the Brumbies, the NSW Waratahs have sold over 33,000 seats for Saturday’s Asteron Life 2014 Super Rugby Semi-Final at Allianz Stadium (7.30pm).

Tickets went on public sale last Wednesday and the Tahs’ opponent was only confirmed yesterday but a rush of sales from travelling Brumbies fans has prompted a surge in ticket sales. With 33,500 of the available 43,500 seats now taken, only 10,000 tickets now remain and the message to fans is to get in quickly to avoid disappointment.

Tickets are great value from just $28 for adults and $77 for a family pass (available via waratahs.com.au/finals). With good weather forecast, fans are urged to buy their tickets quickly to ensure the best available seat and to get down early on gameday. The new on-site Sydney Live plaza will be showing the Crusaders v Sharks semi live and in full on the big screen, kick off at 5.30pm AEST. A free skills and drills clinic for kids is also available from 5.30pm.

The match looks set to break the Waratahs’ previous record crowd for a finals match, which was set at 37,378 in 2008 when the Tahs hosted the Sharks. Prior to that, 35,146 fans turned out to support NSW against the Brumbies in the 2002 Super 12 Semi-Final, with 35,433 present when the Waratahs beat the Bulls in the 2005 semi to qualify for their first ever Super Rugby Final.

As well as their team’s commitment to continuing the exciting, attacking game that has thrilled fans all season, Tahs supporters are keen to be there to see history in the making as the team goes all out to maintain a 100% home record this season, smash NSW’s previous record unbeaten run and earn the state its first ever home Super Rugby Final.

The NSW Waratahs have reached the Super Rugby Finals Series on six previous occasions since the tournament started in 1996 (Super 12/Super 14/Super Rugby). They have hosted three previous home Semi-Finals (2002, 2005 and 2008) and contested two Finals (2005 and 2008), both against the Crusaders. They have yet to win the title.
