Grant withdrawn, Coleman starts and Rose called up to Australia

After advice from a specialist on his ankle strain, Peter Grant has been withdrawn from the game to play the Brumbies and will return to South Africa. The injury requires 2-3weeks of immobilisation, rest and rehabilitation.

Kurt Coleman, another product of the WP Rugby Institute, has been training with the team and will wear the 10 jersey in the game against the Brumbies. Dewaldt Duvenage will again provide cover. “Kurt has fitted in well at training and has been part of our systems. He is surrounded by experienced players and we have every confidence in his abilities.” Said Coach Allister Coetzee. “Like the rest of the youngsters that we have utilised this year, he has a fantastic opportunity, one that we are confident he is ready for and will grab with both hands.”

Earl Rose has been called up to the squad as specialised 10 cover for Kurt Coleman and will arrive in Australia on Monday. He will remain with the squad until Grant recovers. “Earl has the experience required to provide specialised cover for Kurt. He has a valid visa and thus was immediately available for travel after having being released by Griquas.” Said Coetzee. “He will slot into the Stormers structures and be carefully managed.” Added the coach.

The Stormers list of injured flyhalves includes; Peter Grant, Gary Van Aswegen, Lionel Cronje and Sam Lane.

In other injury related news; CJ Van Der Linde should be available for selection again v the Bulls, whilst Lionel Cronje does not require an operation but still has approximately 4 weeks of rehabilitation left.
