Souths v Wests, Chipsy Wood Oval, kick-off 3:20 pm – Game of the Round LIVE Streamed

Souths welcome Wests to Chipsy Wood Oval for this weekend’s Game of the Round. After suffering three straight losses, Souths knocked off Easts with a 20-15 win and must now find consistency if they are to recover from a lean start to the year. Sitting in seventh place, the Magpies come up against Premier Rugby’s surprise packet this Saturday. The Bulldogs arguably produced the performance of the year back in Round 6 when they ran in 10 tries against the Magpies. Since then, Wests have added the scalps of Easts, Bond University and GPS and will be eager to make it two-from-two against Souths this weekend. Be sure to catch the game on the live stream via redsrugby.com.au or Facebook LIVE if you can’t make it to Chipsy Wood.

Norths v GPS, Hugh Courtney Oval, kick-off 3:20 pm – LIVE streamed

Norths shaky start to the season looked to have turned a new leaf when they came away with a thrilling 37-33 victory over Wests in Round 9. Unfortunately for the Eagles, they then faced Premier Rugby’s ultimate challenge – the unbeaten Heavies at home. Norths couldn’t match the speed and intensity that UQ are currently playing with but they’ll back themselves against GPS. The Gallopers will play to their set-piece, recognising the influence that it has on them sitting in the second spot. They’ve bashed their way to six wins and are heavily tipped to be in the mix come finals time. That’s news to Norths ears because they’re more than capable of springing an upset, particularly if their exciting backline clicks the way it did against Wests. The Eagles will be hosting their annual Ladies Day celebrations this Saturday, and if you can’t make it to Hugh Courtney Oval, you can tune into the live stream via redsrugby.com.au.

Norths: Tonga Ma’afu, Daniel Sutherland, Jacob Pinkney, Atama Tahana, Michael Jones,
Brent Jones, Lopeti Mailau, Shane Tasi, Nicholas Chapman, Michael Burke, Siupeli Vaipulu, Conor Chittenden, Kyran Tanuvasa, Veresa Mataitini, Thomas Da Forno

Head Coach: Nick Fogarty

Easts v Bond University, David Wilson Field, kick-off 3:20 pm

After starting the season with promise, the Tigers finals hopes have been brought to a temporary halt. With four straight losses, they’re whiskers away from a result. Less than a try separated their matches with GPS and UQ, while one five-pointer was the difference against Souths. This weekend is near must-win for the Tigers and ironically, their last victory came against Saturday’s opponent. Bond have struggled in 2017 but have shown glimpses of their potential. Against Sunnybank last weekend they came out of the half-time sheds like men possessed but couldn’t maintain that intensity for the rest of the half. A sustained effort against Easts will put them within striking distance.

Easts: Richie Asiata, Samuel Richards, Carter Ozanne, Aidan Leeming, Mitchell Schneider, Tyrell Barker, Tom Milosevic, Brannagh Corcoran, Tim Smith, John Tibbetts, Owain Davies, Alfonso Horomia, Toby White, David Yabsley, Jack Frampton

Head Coach: Anthony Connellan

Bond University: Sam Clifton, Nick Turner, JP Phelan, Caderyn Neville, Jake Upfield, Callum McDonald, Joel Brown, Tai Ford, Vitori Buatava, Scott Daruda, Oscar Dennis, Helaman Samuela, Jack Redden, Hayden Sargent, Mitch Third

Head coach: Sean Hedger

University of Queensland v Brothers, St.Lucia, kick-off 3:20 pm

The Templeton-McLean Cup clash between UQ and Brothers is a highlight of each Premier Rugby season. These two sides have been hammering each other for over 100 years but the rivalry hit new levels recently when Brothers knocked off the Heavies twice in last year’s finals series. UQ returned to serve in Round 6 with a 57-24 win but will not be satisfied until the Hospital Cup is theirs. Securing their fifth consecutive Templeton-McLean Cup sits just below the Premiership on UQ’s priority list, but beware of the broken Brethren. After a disappointing result against Sunnybank, Brothers have had a week off to plot UQ’s demise and the brains trust at Crosby Park have a history of picking apart the previously perfect Heavies.

University of Queensland: William Marschallek, Campbell Wakely, Hamish Richardson, Phil Potgieter, Sam Pim, Samuel Wallis, Jack de Guingand, Jack Cornelsen, James Ohmsen, James Dalgleish, Harry Parker, Alex Horan, Josh Birch, Jock Campbell, Nathan Russell

Head coach: Mick Heenan

Brothers: Dustin Hennegan, Tom Sayer, Garrath Ryan, David Corbenici, Emmanuel Latu, Ted Postale, Henry Fitzgerald, Criff Tupou, Reuben Wall, Paddy James, Sam Hicks, Nathanuel Gendle, Kris Larosa, Will Shipperley, Lawson Creighton

Head coach: Carl Marshall
