Queensland Rugby reports surplus for 2014 at Annual General Meeting

Loading...Queensland Rugby has reported a surplus before depreciation of $935,518 for the 2014 financial year, it was announced at the organisation’s Annual General Meeting at Ballymore today.
The final result of a surplus of $354,624 after depreciation is another strong result and follows an increase in Reds Memberships to a record 58,738 in 2014. Due to a change in the timing of the financial year, the 2014 Queensland Rugby financial results are for ten months only.
Record participation levels saw 296,356 Queenslanders playing Rugby in 2014 with highlights including a 49 per cent rise in sevens participation, a 5.6 per cent rise in junior club Rugby participation and a 13 per cent rise in females participating in the game last year.
2014’s significant achievements were announced to members and stakeholders at Queensland Rugby’s Annual General Meeting today.
Tony Shaw (President) and vice-presidents Bill Ross and Andrew Slack were re-elected. Rod McCall was also re-elected as Chairman for another term. Board Member Michael Arnett was not re-elected to the Board. Therefore, a casual vacancy now exists on the Board and will be filled by the Board at a later date, after receiving nominations from the Nominations Committee.
Queensland Rugby Chairman Rod McCall said: “I’d like to thank Michael Arnett for his significant contribution to Queensland Rugby. Michael’s expertise was particularly valuable in 2010, at the time of the establishment of the Australian Rugby Union’s Special Executive Committee. Michael ensured the best possible outcome for Queensland Rugby at that time and also that Queensland Rugby maintained its identity. He has given great counsel to the Board over his five years on the Board of Queensland Rugby.”
