Chiefs’ hooker and Samoan RugbyWorld Cup 2011 Captain Mahonri Schwalger has re-signed with the franchise.

Schwalger who is in arguable the best form of his career has agreed to a two year contract with the Chiefs.

Coach Dave Rennie stated “Mahonri’s wealth of experience, skill and leadership qualities are highly valuable to our team.”

“His influence on the development of our young tight forwards has been huge.  He is in great form and still has plenty to offer our franchise.”

Thirty-two year old Schwalger is happy with his decision to stay with the current Investec Super Rugby competition leaders.

“I’m really enjoying my rugby, the coaching and the Chiefs environment.  The body feels great and I know I still have plenty of good rugby left to play.”

Schwalger has played in three rugby world cups and captained Samoain their historic win against the Wallabies in 2011.
