The SA Select Women completed the Las Vegas Invitational on a disappointing note in the early hours of Sunday morning as they went down 26-17 against the Atavus All Stars in the Plate Final.

The SA Select Women on Saturday bounced back from a disappointing second day in which they suffered defeats against the USA Select 7s and the Canada Maple Leafs, and registered a confidence-boosting 12-5 victory against the Scion Sirens in the Plate Semi-final.

While both teams tried hard to stamp their authority, the SA Select Women had a narrow edge on attack and defence, which allowed them to emerge victorious.

The win earned them a place in the Plate Final against the Atavus All Stars.

Both teams were determined to win the final and showed their fighting spirit, but the Atavus All Stars made better use of their attacking opportunities, which allowed them to secure a 26-17 victory.

In the Cup Semi-finals on Sunday, GB Select will meet the Canada Maple Leafs, and the USA Select 7s will go up against France Select 7s, with the winning sides taking on each other for the title of Las Vegas Invitational Women’s Elite 7s champions.

SA Select Women Las Vegas Invitational day-three results:

SA Select 12 – 5 Scion Sirens (Plate Semi-final)

Atavus All Stars 26 – 17 SA Select (Plate Final)
