Proud to be the consumer electronics and mobile device supplier to SARU and the National Team

 

JOHANNESBURG – South Africa, June 5, 2014 – Samsung Electronics South Africa, today became the official consumer electronics and mobile supplier to the Springboks and the South African Rugby Union (SARU). The innovative partnership will continue to the end of 2015 and will include their preparations to compete against the world’s best next year.

 

Mr Sung Woo Han, Vice President and Managing Director of Samsung Electronics SA, says, “As one of the country’s top sporting codes, rugby has long been a passion for many South Africans. Loyal supporters of the Springboks demonstrate their pride by donning the green and gold jersey at every match, Samsung too is proud to lend its support to the national team through this innovative partnership.

 

“As an organisation, we understand how pride and passion fuels success and are excited to harness this energy and back the Springboks in their quest to become world champions again at the 2015 IRB Rugby World Cup.”

 

The two-year partnership will see both the Springbok rugby team and SARU exclusively use the latest Samsung consumer electronic products and mobile devices to enhance everyday performance. For the duration of the sponsorship Samsung’s logo will also be featured on the team’s kit.

The Springboks will now be carrying Samsung’s logo on the team’s playing shorts and we look forward to a highly successful partnership over the next two seasons,” said Jurie Roux, CEO of SARU.

 

The Springboks winning the 1995 Rugby World Cup will be forever remembered as one of the greatest moments in South Africa’s sporting history, a watershed moment with celebrations across the nation. This feat was again repeated in 2007 when the Springboks were again crowned as the world’s best.
