New Zealand secured their first Cup title in the 2010/ 2011 HSBC Sevens World Series and their ninth in George on Saturday after they defeated England 22-19 in the final of the Cup section played at Outeniqua Park.

The hosts booked their place in Saturday’s Plate Final after Cecil Afrika scored a hat-trick of tries to snatch the win for the Sevens Boks after the final hooter had gone to steer the hosts to their fourth victory of the weekend. SA Sevens captain Kyle Brown scored his side’s fourth try.

The hosts were responsible for slipping numerous tackles in this game which could have been as a result of the wet conditions at Outeniqua Park Stadium. As a result Wales scored three tries which were scored by Tom Isaacs, Richard Pugh and Aaron Shingler. Rhys Jones kicked two conversions while Gareth Davies also added one conversion.
