The Sharks put in an unconvincing performance to beat the Pumas 30-14 in Witbank and bag 5 points to remain top of the log.

The Sharks fired for the first 20 minutes and claimed their bonus point with four quick tries before easing of the pace and allowing the Pumas to narrow the gap.

The Pumas scored two tries in the first half, their first immediately after the Sharks opening try and then, after lots of hard work, crossing over for their second just before the hooter to trail 14-27 at half-time.

The second half saw none of the action of the first half and was full of errors from both teams, with the Sharks looking rather average and displaying poor to shocking handling skills.

Pat Lambie scored the only points of the second half through a 49th minute penalty conversion.

The Pumas defended well and kept the Sharks defense busy with numerous off-loads and inside passes but were unable to show any points for their efforts
