The St.George Queensland Reds have named their side to take on the Crusaders at Suncorp Stadium on Saturday night, in Round 3 of Vodafone Super Rugby.

The Reds have made three changes to the starting side for this weekend’s match, with recent debutants lock Izack Rodda and wing Izaia Perese in line for their run-on debuts after strong performances off the bench in the opening stages of the competition.

Last year’s Pilecki Medal runner-up, Hendrik Tui, has also been promoted to the starting side at blindside flanker for the first time this season. Lock Kane Douglas, flanker Adam Korczyk and wing Chris Kuridrani have been moved from the starting side to the reserves.

Reds head coach Nick Stiles said: “None of us was happy with last week’s performance. We addressed it and moved on and are looking forward to the opportunity to test ourselves against a difficult opponent this weekend.

“We knew there would be setbacks along the way as this group continued its development. The setback isn’t as important as how we respond to it. That’s the challenge presented to the team this weekend.

“The changes to the starting team reflect the depth we have in the squad at the moment. Everyone has worked hard and deserve their opportunities. As coaches, we want guys challenging for starting spots every week. There are no guarantees when it comes to selection.”

This week’s match marks St.George Queensland Reds Ladies Round, in conjunction with International Women’s Day and Queensland Women’s Week.

Boasting one of the best Women’s Rugby programs in the country, the Queensland Rugby Union is working with Queensland Women to showcase the extraordinary everyday lives that they lead. By doing this, the QRU aims to raise awareness for all the remarkable women who make Rugby great.

Over the course of the week, QRU has profiled the women who always go the extra mile for themselves, their team, their children and Rugby as a whole. For more information, go to bit.ly/WomenInRugby. The Reds will also wear pink socks to mark the occasion.

The St.George Queensland Reds play the Crusaders at Suncorp Stadium this Saturday, 11 March, at 6:45 pm. For ticketing and membership information, go to www.redsrugby.com.au. The match will also be broadcast live on Fox Sports.
