The St.George Queensland Reds have unveiled a new jersey for the 2016 season, which pays homage to Queensland’s proud 133-year history, while also incorporating kit partner BLK’s state-of-the-art technology and cutting-edge design.

The kit was launched today via an online commercial produced by Queensland Rugby’s in-house design studio ‘RED Creative’. The commercial features Reds flanker Liam Gill and highlights the performance properties of the new jersey and showcases its eye-catching design.

“Shooting the commercial at Ballymore and Suncorp Stadium was a lot of fun,” Gill said.

“I enjoyed working with the guys and seeing all the different visual effects come together, it was a cool experience. I liked the idea of it from the start, so I was just waiting to see how it came out. I think they hit the nail on the head.

“I was lucky enough to get a sneak peak at the jersey ahead of next year. I like the fit of it, I like the colour of it and it’s a nice style. It’s a good Queensland jersey.

“I know BLK have put a lot of work into the new kit and it shows.”

The new jersey has been designed and produced using BLK’s exclusive Exotek fabric throughout the main body.

Exotek was created exclusively by BLK to enhance athlete performance, while maximising player comfort and manoeuvrability. Exotek is the strongest, lightest and most breathable and soft-to-touch fabric ever used by BLK with its four-way stretch properties setting it apart as a market leader.

Each Queensland Reds Jersey has been individually embroidered with the traditional Queensland ‘Q’, the Reds insignia and the BLK logo positioned across the chest, while they also feature the introduction of BLK’s full Silicon Gel grip through the St.George Sponsor logo, to assist with ball carrying and grip.

The player’s jerseys have been specifically cut and tailored to meet the requirements and shape of each individual athlete’s body and featuring a combination of three fabrics strategically engineered to benefit the athletes’ comfort and mobility on field. Lycra has been integrated into the neck opening, underarms and sleeve hems to allow maximum stretch and comfort.

Each Jersey features seam-free Lycra underarm panels, a lycra neck opening, and Exodry side panelling, designed and positioned to wick away sweat and moisture from the athletes body.

To ensure the Queensland Reds Jerseys are more than capable of handling the toughest conditions and extreme contact, all seams and panels are finished with reinforced cover stitch seams.

In a shift away from the full red jersey of previous years, the 2016 Queensland Reds home jersey introduces a bold graduating lineal design element, which runs vertically down the centre front of the jersey.

This striking design element, which wraps around to the back neck panel, creates a stunning visual effect when viewed up close due to the intricate detail used.

The jersey is finished with contrasting navy piping on the front torso, which accentuates the tapered seams.

The jersey is smartly finished with navy accents used on the collar, sleeves and hem to tie back to the graphic element used throughout the Jersey.

In addition to the home jersey, the Reds retail range also includes a navy away jersey and black warm up jersey, featuring a bold Reds logo.

The new jerseys are now available at www.redsrugby.com.au and in store at Rebel Sport. Sizes include men, women, juniors, infants and babies.

Reds fans can share their photos of the new kit using the hashtag #MillionDollarJersey.
