Next week the Steval Pumas will be travel to Bulawayo (hosted by Kyro Sports) as part of a four day tour to our neighbouring country and their first warm up match of the season. It’s been a long pre-season for the 2015 Vodacom Cup Champions, but according to the head coach, MJ Mentz the tour comes at the right time.
“We will be taking a 24 man squad to Bulawayo where they will play against a President’s XV at the Hartsfield Stadium on Friday afternoon 18 March. The team has worked hard the last 12 weeks and everyone is eager to make an impression on tour. We haven’t selected a captain as yet, but have identified a leadership group that will be put to task on tour and the next warm-up match on 2 April in Witbank.
Apart from the warm-up match we will be doing some sightseeing at Matapos and will host a coaching clinic on the Thursday,” Mentz explained.
The last cross border tour the Pumas had was to Kenya in 2011, where they played two matches against the hosts.
