Breyton Paulse Tag Rugby Festival Background
From humble beginnings Breyton Paulse had a love for sport. He was a talented sportsman and was given an opportunity through sport to change his life. With the support of his mom’s employer, De Keur Estate, he was apply to achieve something that can be an inspiration for every child in the Koue Bokkeveld area and South Africa. The Breyton Paulse Tag Rugby Festival has been created to give boys and girls the opportunity to play and enjoy sport and physical activity.
This is first year that the festival will take place and sees nine primary schools and a De Keur Verpakking team (comprising of the De Keur’s packing facilities staff children) competing for the title. Breyton will be there to assist with the coaching and to hand the trophy to the winning team.
Danell Du Toit, De Keur Estate’s MD, has work diligently in securing sponsors to ensure that the festival can reach numerous primary school children from the surrounding areas. Through these donations, every child and teacher that attends the clinic will receive an ASICS t-shirt, all teachers will attend a coaching course and each school will receive Tag Rugby® equipment to ensure Tag Rugby® can be played in their school from January 2016.
“ What Breyton and De Keur along with sponsors are doing is not only creating a wonderful legacy in the Koue Bokkeveld area but they are giving huge opportunities to the young boys and girls that otherwise would have little access to Tag Rugby® . I predict that Tag Rugby® will grow in this area and at the 2nd Breyty Tag Rugby® Festival in 2016, we will have a lot more schools participating,” commented Stuart McConnell from the Tag Rugby® Association.
