The Qantas Wallabies will meet Argentina’s Los Pumas at Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane on Saturday 27 July to kick off their domestic Test schedule for 2019 ahead of the Rugby World Cup in Japan in September.

The round two Mitsubishi Estate Rugby Championship match will see the two nations battle for the first time since last year’s dramatic showdown in South America where the Qantas Wallabies produced an epic second half fightback to claim a record 45-34 win in Salta.

The round two match will kick off Australia’s TRC campaign on home soil, before the men in gold head west to take on the All Blacks at Optus Stadium in Perth on Saturday 10 August.

Tickets go on sale via Ticketek this Friday 31 May for the clash with Argentina, which once again pits the Wallabies against their former assistant coach, Mario Ledesma, who is now Pumas Head Coach.

Since the construction of Suncorp Stadium in 1994, Australia has played 32 times at Brisbane’s premier venue, winning 23 matches and drawing one for a success rate of 76%.

The Stadium has witnessed some memorable Wallabies victories in recent years, including the victory over Ireland to kick off the three-Test series in 2018 and an historic victory over the All Blacks the year prior when the team ran out in its Indigenous jersey for the first time.

Rugby Australia Chief Executive Raelene Castle said: “2019 is an exciting year of opportunity for the Qantas Wallabies and the team is looking forward to returning to Suncorp Stadium to kick off their season on home soil.

“Brisbane always puts on a great show when Test Rugby is in town and it will be a great opportunity for locals and tourists alike to enjoy everything Queensland has to offer when the two sides meet.

“It’s an important Test for both nations as they fight for the Mitsubishi Estate Rugby Championship and to build momentum ahead of the Rugby World Cup.

Queensland Tourism Industry Development Minister Kate Jones said the match was an opportunity for fans to show their support for the Wallabies ahead of the Rugby World Cup.

“We’re thrilled to be welcoming the Qantas Wallabies back to Suncorp Stadium for their first Test on home soil in 2019.

“It’s an important year for the Wallabies and this match will be a significant moment as they continue preparations for the Rugby World Cup in Japan later this year.

“This is one of only two opportunities to see the Wallabies on the east coast of Australia this year and we know they’ll get a fitting reception at the best rectangular stadium in Australia.

“I encourage all fans to get to Suncorp Stadium on 27 July to cheer on the Wallabies and wish them well ahead of the World Cup.”

Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner said Council was committed to major events that supported local jobs and the local economy.

“We love our sport in Brisbane, and this Test Match will once again enhance the city’s reputation as a world-class sporting destination,” Cr Schrinner said.

“The city’s commitment to attracting major events has a significant impact on our economy, currently injecting more than $150 million into Brisbane’s economy each year and giving the city’s tourism, retail and hospitality sectors a major boost.”

FOX SPORTS will show every match of the 2019 Rugby Championship LIVE and all Bledisloe Cup Tests with no ad-breaks during play and in HD.

All Bledisloe Cup and Qantas Wallabies Rugby Championship matches will be screened LIVE and free in HD on TEN and WIN Network and streaming on tenplay.com.au.
