Top APC honours at stake on Friday

Loading...The SA Rugby Northern, Central and Southern Amateur Provincial Competitions (APC) will come to a thrilling end on Friday as the best amateur players in the country battle it out for top honours in Johannesburg, Kimberley and George respectively.
Hosts the Golden Lions and their northern neighbours, the Blue Bulls, will meet in the Cup Final of the Northern APC at the Alberton Rugby Club in Johannesburg, the Sharks Club XV and Griquas Central will go head-to-head in the Central Final at Griqua Park in Kimberley, and South Western Districts will face Western Province in the Southern Final in front of their home crowd at Outeniqua Park in George.
This follows a number of thrilling matches in Wednesday’s second round, which determined the Cup and Plate Finalists, and those that will battle it out for third and seventh place respectively in each competition.
In the Northern APC on Wednesday, the Blue Bulls defeated the Golden Lions XV 36-22, while the Golden Lions beat the Valke 41-33, Pumas Highveld overpowered the Leopards 43-29 and the Limpopo Blue Bulls registered a 49-18 victory against Pumas Lowveld.
There was also a mixed bag of results in the Central APC where Griquas Central defeated Free State Central 36-30 in a hard-fought encounter, while the Sharks Club XV cruised to a 41-8 win against Griffons Central, Griquas Central and the KwaZulu-Natal Wildebeest XV played to a 37-37 draw and Free State Rural pipped Griffons Rural 18-17.
In the Southern APC Western Province stole the show with their 68-5 victory against Eastern Province, while hosts SWD outplayed Boland 34-22, Border overpowered their Rural counterparts 35-0 and Eastern Province Rural edged the SWD XV 32-30.
Friday’s final round is expected to be thrilling as all the teams look to finish the competition on a high note.
