Toyota Cheetahs duo Francois Uys and Boom Prinsloo lead a six-member squad in this week’s Stats XV on the Vodacom Rugby App.

Uys and Prinsloo made it into the team for the second consecutive week of Vodacom SupeRugby based on the stats that are important to their respective positions.

While a high premium is placed on positive statistics but players are penalised for handling errors.

The South African representation in the Stats XV team is split equally between the backline and the pack of forwards.

Emirates Lions outside centre Lionel Mapoe and DHL Stormers talisman Damian de Allende forms a South African centre combination.

The Johannesburg franchise contributed the most players from the South African Conference with Lions flyer Ruan Combrinck and captain Warren Whiteley making it into the Stats XV.

Players earn points according to their position. So while a prop will certainly get points for running 50 metres to score a try, he will get even more points for doing what he is on the field to do – win scrums.

Combrinck forms a back three with Chiefs duo fullback Tom Marshall and wing Tim Nanai-Williams.

His two Try Assists ranks him first in his position, while he made the second most metres with 125m.

Mapoe and Combrinck rank third in their respective positions in the Clean Breaks department with two apiece, while the latter also ranked fourth with four Defenders Beaten.

De Allende’s star continues to rise as he makes it into the top-10 in four categories at inside centre.

He tops the Offloads bracket with five, while he is fourth in terms of Turnovers Won with three.

Leading from the front, Whiteley topped the Tackles rankings making 23 against the Cheetahs over the weekend.

Cheetahs flanker Prinsloo was valuable on the ground for his side, topping the Turnovers Won category with the three he made against the Lions, while he also ranks fourth for his 18 Carries.

Uys, the only South African in the tight five, ranked third for Lineouts caught on own throw with the five he took.
