The Pampas XV and DHL Western Province maintained their status as the only two unbeaten teams in the 2011 Vodacom Cup after both sides secured victories in the final round of league fixtures this weekend.

The Argentineans ended the season in pole position on the South Section log after they ran in eight tries by comprehensively defeating the Welwitschias 52-10 at the Hein Geingob Stadium in Windhoek on Friday. Genaro Fessia (2), Martin Landajo (2), Mauricio Guidone, Juan Imhoff, Nicolas Bruzzone and Miguel de Achaval all scored tries for the visitors while flyhalf Santiago Iglesias kicked six conversions.

DHL Western Province ended the league phase of the competition in second place after they defeated the Platinum Leopards 26-12 at a wet Profert Olen Park in Potchefstroom on Saturday. The Cape team scored two tries which were added by centre Tim Whitehead and winger JJ Engelbrecht. Flyhalf Kurt Coleman converted both five-pointers and kicked four penalties.

The MTN Golden Lions cemented their place in first position on the North Section log after they secured a 52-19 victory over the Border Bulldogs at Coca-Cola Park on Saturday. The Johannesburg team ran in eight tries which were scored by Edgar Marutlulle (2), David Bulbring (2), Dylan des Fountain, Wandile Mjekevu, Renaldo Bothma and Divan Ferguson. Flyhalf Hein Cronjé kicked five conversions while Janse van Rensburg also added one conversion.

Meanwhile the Vodacom Blue Bulls conceded their fifth defeat of the season following their 25-23 loss against the SWD Eagles, but still qualified for the quarter-finals after securing a bonus point for losing within seven points of the George team.

The GWK Griquas ended in second position in the North Section following their 26-17 victory over the Toyota Free State Cheetahs, while The Sharks XV were also impressive during their 29-27 win over the Ford Pumas.

The Eastern Province Kings edged the Tasol Solar Griffons 45-43 at the North West Stadium in Welkom. The Boland Cavaliers and the Valke played out a 25-25 draw at the Barnard Stadium in Kempton Park.
