Wales Women have made one change and two positional switches to the starting XV for Saturday’s clash against Scotland at Broadwood Stadium (KO 5pm).

Shona Powell-Hughes, who had an outstanding game in Sunday’s victory over world champions England at Swansea, is being given an extended recovery period. Blues second row Jenny Hawkins steps up from the replacements bench to start in the second row which means captain Rachel Taylor reverts back to flanker while Sioned Harries goes to No 8.

Hawkins’ place on the bench has gone to uncapped Scarlets fly half Hannah Jones.

Despite being blitzed 42-0 last weekend by defending champions France, head coach Rhys Edwards expects a stern challenge from Scotland.

“There’s no doubt Scotland have improved since last season. Scotland are always a difficult proposition at home. We have to go there and display the same intensity we produced against England,” he said.

“While our victory over England may have taken many by surprise, we have to make sure we keep our feet firmly on the ground and maximise any opportunities that come our way and convert pressure into points. The England victory will not count for anything unless we follow it up with another against Scotland. To do that we need to be more clinical with the many opportunities that we created,” he added.
