INTRODUCTION

Wildeklawer (PTY) Ltd is proud to host the sixth, 2014 Wildeklawer Schools Rugby and Netball Tournament in Kimberley from 27 – 30 April, 2014 at Hoërskool Diamantveld.

The first tournament was hosted at Paarl Gymnasium in April 2009, with 12 top graded rugby schools and two invitation teams. After 2009 the tournament was hosted in Pretoria, Kimberley (2011 and 2012), Maritzburg College in 2013 and this year again at Hoërskool Diamantveld . The tournament has grown in stature and this year will see 114 rugby and netball teams from all over South Africa, participating in surely the biggest schools rugby and netball tournament in South Africa, if not in the World.

OPERATIONAL FACTS

• The tournament is endorsed by SARU, SA Netball, the Premier and EXCO of the Northern Cape , NC Department of Sport, Arts and Culture, NC Department of Education, The Sol Plaatjie Municipality, and GW Rugby Union.
• 112 teams from across SA will participate in this tournament:
 20 x u/19 Rugby teams (Top Schools in SA) – Diamantveld
 12 x u/19 Netball teams (Top Schools in SA) – Diamantveld
 48 x Junior rugby teams (u/14, u/15 and u/16) – ​Diamantveld, CBC and Boys Junior
 16 x u/13 rugby teams – Newton
 16 x u/13 netball teams – Newton
 SA Rugby and SA Netball have entered a team in the u/19 tournament under the auspice of the governing body.
• SA Rugby will once again make available some of the country`s top match officials to be utilised in this tournament.
• 12 x SA Graded netball referees will be in charge of the netball.
The Wildeklawer rugby and netball tournament is seen to be one of the flagship sport tournaments in SA. The ample opportunity that is given to not only top rugby and netball schools, but also the investment in development, is the corner stone of this prestigious event. Development of sport is essential to nation building. Together we can achieve more.

This year we also see the start of n brand new u/13 rugby and netball tournament. We hope to see this junior tournament grow from strength to strength. This tournament will be hosted by Newton Primary School.
