Willie le Roux signs long term apparel deal with PUMA

Loading...Cape Town, South Africa, 29 January 2015 – Springbok star Willie le Roux has joined PUMA South Africa’s growing rugby family on a long term deal and will play in the new evoSPEED 1.3 boot.
PUMA will supply the fullback, who was shortlisted for World Player of the Year in 2014, with performance footwear and apparel as well as lifestyle footwear, apparel and accessories.
“PUMA is a brand that is always willing to try something new and will innovate to compete among the market leaders. That is something I can identify with and how I try to play my rugby,” says Le Roux. “I will play in the evoSPEED which is the ideal boot for an outside back as it’s lightweight for speed and agility and comfortable to kick in. Looks fantastic as well!”
Asked about his goals in a World Cup year, Le Roux said: “I try not to think too far ahead. There is a lot of rugby to be played before then and at the moment I would just like to focus on making sure I am at my best for the Cheetahs Super Rugby campaign.”
Commenting on his nomination for World Player of the Year, he said: “Personal accolades are always flattering and to be nominated in that company is obviously something to cherish, but being part of a successful team is even more fulfilling and something I hope we will achieve as a group.”
Le Roux joins fellow World Player of the Year nominee Duane Vermeulen and a host of Springboks including Fourie du Preez, Schalk Burger, Victor Matfield, Trevor Nyakane, Francois Louw and Adriaan Strauss in the ever growing number of rugby players sporting PUMA.
