Durban, 6th February 2017:  Last Friday, 3rd February, the Cell C Sharks played the Toyota Cheetahs in a pre-season friendly at the King Zwelithini Stadium in Umlazi.  It was a good result for the team who defeated the Cheetahs by 37-7.

Head Coach Robert du Preez was pleased with his charges first “hit-out” for the season.  “It was a good start to our journey and I was pleased with the squad’s fitness.  They obviously didn’t have game time during our pre-season and we want to see how they go.  Our general execution was good despite the humid conditions and we pleased with the enthusiasm and energy shown by our relatively young squad”, said du Preez.

During the main match, just before the halftime break, loose forward Keegan Daniel had to leave the field with an injury to his right forearm. Scans determined that he had a fractured radius and he underwent an operation on Saturday morning.  He is expected to be out for approximately 12 weeks.

The Cell C Sharks wish Keegan a speedy recovery.

This Friday, the Cell C Sharks will play their second warm-up match against a Bulls XV at the Northwood Crusaders Club.  Kick-off is at 17h00 and entrance is free of charge.
