ROB VICKERMAN has left the England Sevens programme to pursue other opportunities.

The former Leeds Carnegie and Newcastle Falcons centre signed a full-time England Sevens contract in the summer of 2011 and captained the side last season.

He leaves with the best wishes of management and teammates for his hard work and leadership over the last two-and-a-half years.

Vickerman, 28, made his England Sevens debut in Paris in 2004 when a Leeds player and represented England at 29 HSBC Sevens World Series events and two Rugby World Cup Sevens tournaments.

He was part of the team that lifted World Series titles in Wellington (2008, 2013), London (2008) and Dubai (2011) as well as reaching the RWC7s final in Moscow in June this year.
